The fire started around 3:25 p.m. Shortly before that, a resident (61) had heated the tiled stove on the ground floor and had left the room. “When she returned, she noticed heavy smoke,” police said. Attempts to extinguish the fire with a garden hose were unsuccessful, so the woman warned her daughter. She immediately called the Floriani disciples.
Damage to the stove or chimney as the cause
They had to dismantle the wood paneling behind the stove that had caught fire and extended all the way to the upper floor, and also opened the intermediate ceiling to the upper floor. The fire was finally extinguished. The cause of the fire is believed to be damage to the stove or chimney.
Fortunately no one was injured. The volunteer fire brigades in Reith im Alpbachtal, St. Gertraaudi and Rattenberg took action. The extent of the damage is not yet known.
