At the Ukrainian-Polish border, the number of trucks carrying export goods from Ukraine is constantly increasing. The Polish check-in points are so congested that the queue moves just under three kilometers a day. The result: the waiting time for customs clearance is at least six days.
Since the start of the Ukraine war at the end of February, most goods have been exported from the country by truck. Poland is considered a popular route due to its seaports. Most articulated trucks and lorries are loaded with grain, but feed and food are also exported.
Traffic jams up to 45 kilometers long
Although Poland has opened five new truck check-in points since June, the queues at the Ukrainian-Polish border will be up to 45 kilometers long. The convoy of trucks sometimes travels only about three kilometers a day.
Due to the long waiting time, the carriers suffer loss of profit. According to official calculations, the entire industry is currently losing more than ten million euros per month
500 km long common border
Poland and Ukraine share a common border that is more than 500 kilometers long. This is also one of the eastern borders of the European Union.
