First call – Truss promised Selenskyj “full support”.

Date:

Shortly after her appointment, new British Prime Minister Liz Truss promised Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy further military support against Russia’s war of aggression. In a phone call, Truss Zelenskyy promised her “full support” and assured him that Ukraine could “rely on Britain’s support in the long run,” a Truss spokeswoman said Tuesday evening.

After the call, Zelenskyy said he had agreed with Truss to put “extra pressure” on Russia. “The goal is to stop the aggression and hold the criminals accountable.”

Zelenskyy invited Truss to Ukraine
Zelenskyj announced on Twitter that he had invited Truss to visit Ukraine. He also thanked the British for their great military and economic assistance: “It is important that Britain is prepared to extend it further.”

According to both Truss and Zelenskyi, the meeting with Ukrainian President was Truss’ first exchange with a foreign leader after her appointment. According to sources in London, they discussed ways to cut off Russian President Vladimir Putin’s money flows that kept his “war machine” going.

Important ally of Ukraine
Britain is one of Ukraine’s main allies in the fight against the Russian war of aggression. Since the beginning of the Russian invasion on February 24, London has supported the Ukrainian army with weapons and funds, among other things, and helped train Ukrainian soldiers.
