With bare hands – Indian woman rescues her one-year-old son from Tiger

Date:

In India, a mother fought a tiger with her bare hands and saved her baby from the cat. Mother and child were injured and taken to a hospital, the two are now in stable condition, a police spokesman said on Wednesday.

In the incident on Sunday, the 25-year-old and her one-year-old son were in a field when a tiger previously hidden in bushes attacked the boy. The mother then began to wrestle with the animal and call for help. In the end, hasty villagers were able to save the two.

Mother and son live in a village on the edge of a national park with free-roaming tigers in the state of Madhya Pradesh. Attacks by tigers and other wildlife on humans are recurring around national parks. Due to increasing urbanization, tigers are losing their natural habitat.

The tiger population is threatened
So the big cats and the humans keep getting in each other’s way. Sometimes tigers also search for prey among humans. India has by far the most tigers in the world, about 3000 animals. Their survival is threatened by poaching, habitat loss and declining numbers of their prey. Recently, however, their numbers have increased.
