High energy prices – Denmark plans 19 degrees in public buildings

Date:

Given the current high energy prices, Denmark wants to lower the temperatures in public buildings to 19 degrees Celsius. That said Minister of Climate and Energy Dan Jorgensen on Thursday at a press conference in Copenhagen. Normally, the temperature in public buildings is between 21 and 23 degrees.

Hospitals, nursing homes and crèches should be exempt from this. In addition, unnecessary outdoor lighting should be turned off, Jorgenson says. According to the Ritzau news agency, the Danish Climate and Energy Minister said Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine has triggered a “historic energy crisis”.

Prices have increased enormously. Denmark and Europe are entering a winter where there is a risk of a lack of energy. However, there is currently no energy supply crisis. So Denmark has no shortage of gas or electricity, Jorgenson reassured.

Germany also plans savings
Four weeks ago, the German government announced that it is envisioning strict rules for the autumn and winter in order to save energy. So “in public properties – hospitals, social institutions of course – are only heated to 19 degrees,” Economics Minister Robert Habeck (Greens) announced at the time.
