Apparently the team planned to film Lady Di’s death in a car accident in a tunnel in Paris this weekend
The death of the Queen of England, Elizabeth II, is a historic moment for both the United Kingdom and the rest of the planet. The Anglo-Saxon country is completely immersed in a grieving process that affects all walks of life. The audiovisual would not be any less and, after many celebrities said goodbye, the shooting of the series ‘The Crown’ now temporarily stops with its activities out of respect for the late monarch and her family.
The shooting had been moved these days to Barcelona, where the team would apparently recreate Diana of Wales’ death in a car accident in a Paris tunnel. As revealed by SER Catalunya, a papier-mâché kiosk with slogans and advertisements in French has been seen on Passeig de Gràcia, along with a large black Mercedes on a crane for filming, very similar to the one leaning against a pillar of the tunnel of the soul with Diana and her three companions. The operators have dismantled the set of filming, which was to take place over the weekend, and the actors have returned to the UK.
Elizabeth II died this Thursday at the age of 96 after a 70-year reign. And while dozens of films and series have been written that collect parts of his life, without a doubt one of the most important is “The Crown.” The award-winning Netflix series spans her entire life from her marriage to Felipe de Edinburgh and through, for now, the last years of the 20th century with Margaret Thatcher’s mandate and Lady Di’s foray into the royal family.
Already finished shooting its fifth season and immersed in the production of its sixth and final season, The Crown will attempt to continue the story of Elizabeth II in her final years. But before the Queen’s event, he wanted to show respect for the figure that shines in his series. Its creator, Peter Morgan, emailed Deadline writing with the following statement: “’The Crown’ is a love letter to her and I have nothing to add for now, just silence and respect. I hope we stop filming out of respect.”
This decision had, in fact, been meditated for a long time. A few years ago, as the same source compiles, producer Stephen Daldry confirmed that “none of us know when that time will come, but it would be right and proper to pay respect to the Queen. It would be a simple tribute and a token of respect. It is still unknown how long this break will last from the filming of one of the most important series of the past decade. At the moment it does not affect the premiere plans, as the next season to be broadcast, the fifth, is ready and is expected to be released by Netflix in November.
