Unusual scenes took place late Saturday night at the Spittelau metro station in Vienna. Two drunks had uttered themselves at a billboard with a rather unusual object: a sword. Why did they have it with them? At least one of the suspects had an explanation for that…
A witness had seen the two drunken men riot around 10:30 p.m. and had alerted police for using a sword. The officers quickly met the 30-year-old sword-bearer and confronted him. Although he denied damaging the billboard, the alleged perpetrator was able to give at least one reason why he was carrying the sword. The suspect explained that he had previously been to a medieval festival with friends.
The second alleged perpetrator was also quickly found, but the 27-year-old also wanted nothing to do with the damaged billboard. Both men were reported on suspicion of material damage.
