Drug smugglers were targeted by police in Upper Austria last weekend. Incredible: Even a young mother with a disability got behind the wheel. But that wasn’t all.
Over the weekend, an LVA Upper Austria patrol conducted a civilian patrol focusing on “disabled vehicle drivers”. Several high-risk drivers were arrested. In the vicinity of Buchkirchen, a 24-year-old motorist from Scharten was arrested, who significantly crossed the center of the lane several times and was unable to stay in the lane. During the detention, clear symptoms of a drug disorder were found. Incredibly, the driver’s 15-month-old daughter was also in the vehicle. A doctor determined that he was unfit to drive.
Drugs but no driver’s license
Not the only questionable case this weekend: a car from Lower Austria was stopped in Wels Neustadt. The 34-year-old had massive deficits and admitted to taking several narcotics. Here too, the doctor determines that you are not allowed to drive. A car driven by a 21-year-old from Weißkirchner was stopped in Wels Vogelweide. He too had clearly been seriously affected by narcotics and had never had a driver’s license. The driver refused to go to the doctor.
“Invisible” cyclist
In Wels Lichtenegg, shortly before midnight, a completely black, totally unlit cyclist was spotted in the middle of the road on the B1 and stopped immediately. The 15-year-old driver also admitted to using cannabis shortly before the drive. After he too refused to go to the doctor, he was handed over to his sister.
150 instead of 70 km/h
A short time later, a car was spotted at an extremely high speed on the B1 in Marchtrenk and the pursuit was started. Despite the roadblock and the overtaking ban, the driver overtook his Mercedes and a video speed of 150 km/h was measured instead of the permitted 70. The 18-year-old North Macedonian who lives in Wels has been arrested. It was also determined that the driver’s license had already been revoked. All preliminary tests were negative.
All drivers were not allowed to continue driving and reported to the authorities.
