Gas station robbed – “Spontaneous entry” led to wanted German

The 33-year-old German, who was arrested in an apartment in Vienna-Hietzing on Wednesday, is said to be responsible for a brutal attack on a gas station in Meidling, according to the police. Police were originally called to the apartment after a neighbor heard loud screams.

According to the State Police Directorate, the robbery took place on November 29. During the serious robbery, an employee was threatened with a firearm and forced to hand over money. The arrest warrant for sufficient evidence had already been issued, but the reported cries prompted the officers to act spontaneously.

The suspect initially managed to escape
After the police expected the suspect, who was still armed, at the specified home address, numerous emergency services were sent to the scene. Officials from the Meidling City police command, the National Criminal Investigation Department, the special WEGA unit, the Cobra and the police dog unit were on site. They all surrounded the apartment, but the 33-year-old managed to escape, but was quickly apprehended by Meidling’s emergency services.

The murder weapon has been secured
During the subsequent search of the apartment, the weapon used in the robbery and parts of the clothing were seized. The suspect will be questioned on Thursday.
