Letters were removed from the lettering of the HORNBACH store in Graz-Seiersberg in Styria – and the mysterious disappearance is by no means an isolated case. The company is now asking the public for information about the events.
HORNBACH customers in Graz-Seiersberg were amazed when they reached the entrance to the hardware store: the letters R and A were removed from the facade of the store overnight. What’s behind it, who removed the letters and for what reason – the market cannot provide further details on this for now: “We are currently investigating what is happening internally to clarify the background of the incident,” HORNBACH said on request, ” please have it. You understand that we cannot share any further information at this early stage.”
Missing letters in Bad Fischau are not an isolated case
However, one thing is already certain about the strange incident: the mysterious disappearance is by no means an isolated case. The HORNBACH stores in Vienna-Stadlau, Krems, Leoben, Bad Fischau and Brunn am Gebirge have been missing letters lately and even stores in Germany, Sweden and other European countries have been hit. Amazing events given the size of the objects: after all, each letter is more than two meters high and weighs up to two hundred kilograms.
“Even though we don’t know anything about those responsible yet – such a letter certainly cannot be lifted alone,” explains the company. “You probably need a well-organized group with professional equipment for a venture like this.” Due to the weight and size of the aluminum letters, it is likely that a Sprinter or truck was used for the transport, it said.
The hardware store hopes for information from the public
The hardware store currently has no further indications about the process and motive of the dismantling. HORNBACH therefore asks for the help of the public to get clarity about the events.
