In the Tyrolean Navis (district of Innsbruck-Land), a winter sports enthusiast was attacked by an avalanche early on Saturday afternoon. The person was dragged along by the snow masses. The alerted ambulance helicopter took the injured to hospital.
As the Tyrol Control Center described at the request of “Krone”, the avalanche went off in the Hohe Warte area between the Stoffenalm and the summit. The winter sports enthusiast – apparently a ski tourer – was dragged along by the snow masses. He was not buried, as he eventually told rescuers himself.
Helicopter to hospital
The control center received several distress calls. A rescue helicopter and a police helicopter flew to the scene of the accident. In the meantime, the injured person has been given first aid and attended to by witnesses. The winter sports enthusiast was eventually flown to the hospital by emergency helicopter. Details about the exact course of the accident or the identity of the victim are not yet known.
