Denied entry – Germany: Dozens of “feigned” refugees

Date:

According to a “Spiegel” report, the German federal police have identified numerous entry attempts with a fake residence in Ukraine. The magazine reported verbatim about people who “famed refugee status in connection with the war in Ukraine”. There are now said to be about a hundred cases, mainly on the German-Austrian border.

According to the federal police, these are “both Ukrainian nationals and third-country nationals who falsely claim to have previously resided in Ukraine”.

Ask about the social benefits upon arrival
According to the report, officials were suspicious of groups who asked for social benefits immediately upon entry, but were unable to explain from which Ukrainian place they came. Some of the purchase receipts found refer to a stay outside the Ukraine, for example in Bulgaria or Romania.

Meanwhile, fewer refugees are arriving, which has reduced the number of such detentions by the federal police significantly.
