Innsbruck trial – deadly knife attack: husband (60) in court

Date:

A 60-year-old man has to answer to the regional court in Innsbruck today, Wednesday, for the crime of murder. In November 2021, during an argument with his 50-year-old wife in the shared apartment, he would have grabbed a kitchen knife and shot the woman with multiple knife wounds, among other things.

The terrible bloody act took place on November 19. As the researchers described to the “Krone” at the time, it was a neighbor of the couple who had raised the alarm. “The suspect went to him and said he had just killed his wife.” When the police arrived at the apartment, they found the 50-year-old lifeless on the floor. All attempts at resuscitation were unsuccessful.

Dispute escalated in the morning hours
Apparently there had been an argument between the two husbands over the course of the morning hours, which eventually got completely out of hand. At the time, the man stated in an interrogation that he felt provoked during an argument and then grabbed the knife. The suspect was still in the apartment and was arrested without resistance.

Trade now “somewhat relativized”
The suspect confessed to the crime. The man accused of murder did not give any further information about his motive during the interrogation. It is unclear whether the 60-year-old will abide by his full admission of guilt in the jury trial.

As a court spokeswoman recently told the APA, he put his actions in perspective for an expert believed to be assessing his mental health. Although he confessed what had happened, he stated that he wanted to hurt his wife and not kill her.
