The President of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelensky, was involved in a traffic accident in Kiev early Thursday morning as he returned from the city of Izium, although he was unharmed. This has been confirmed by the spokesman for the Ukrainian president, Sergei Nikiforov, who set out in a statement that a vehicle in the presidential convoy has crashed.

According to Nikiforov, the doctors accompanying the Ukrainian president provided emergency assistance to the driver of the car, who was then taken to a hospital by ambulance. “The president has been examined by a doctor, no serious injuries were found,” the letter said.

According to the spokesman for the presidency, the Ukrainian police are in charge of investigating the circumstances of the accident.

Zelensky had traveled on Wednesday to the city of Izium, located in the Kharkiv region and recently “liberated” from Russian troops, where he attended the official flag ceremony.
