More and more arrests – Most refugees now come from India

Date:

Every day, hundreds of new migrants cause heated debates among the population. The situation on the Burgenland border continues to deteriorate, the flow of refugees does not stop. Striking: last week mainly Indians came to Burgenland.

Burgenland has been struggling with more and more refugees for months. With 2,811 attacks, as reported, a new record was reached last week. The armed forces and police are already working on the border service on the verge of resilience.

Hotspot Neusiedl
The district of Neusiedl am See, with 1,255 refugees in just seven days, was particularly hard hit, closely followed by the district of Oberpullendorf with 1,149 migrants. Both areas also top the list with the most attacks to date in 2022.

Since January, more than 44,000 migrants have been registered and taken to a first reception center for registration. Exactly 20,267 immigrants are in the Neusiedl area with Nickelsdorf, Andau and Deutsch Jahrndorf as hotspots. In the Oberpullendorf area, with a focus on Deutschkreutz, Nikitsch, Croatian Minihof and Lutzmannsburg, 19,012 migrants have been stranded so far.

Fast 1000 Inder
In the Oberwart district there are 1,636, in the Güssing district 1,584, in Eisenstadt-Umwelt 888, in Mattersburg 575 and in Jennersdorf 56. Last week the list of immigrant countries led India with 938 detentions, for Afghanistan with 776 refugees and Syria with 362 newcomers.

Migrants caused a stir in Lutzmannsburg on Thursday. “From seven in the morning until eleven at night they hung out at bus stops where our grandchildren would get on the bus to Oberpullendorf,” residents raised the alarm. You can’t shake the feeling that the authorities in Austria are overwhelmed, one comment said.
