“Krone” campaign – More attention: “I also brake for Marmot!”

Date:

The “Kronen Zeitung” gives an example – for more mindfulness in the mountains of Austria, less sound and frenzy on our mountain roads. Participate!

Under the motto “surprise instead of Gazon”, “Bergkrone” and “Krone” Animal Corner of the Hohe Tauern National Park and the Großglockner High Alpine Straße AG (Grohag), the “I Brake for Marmots” protection campaign starts.

The printed “Sunday” crown is included in the National Park-Hohe-Tauern Federal States of Tyrol, Salzburg and Carinthia. You can also pass tierecke@kronenzeitung.at Order.

We invite you to place it visibly – on the car, motorcycle or backpack – as a commitment with more attention in our mountains.

The campaign got up after the “Mountain Crown” reported about Dead Marmots on the Großglockner High Alpine Road. The animals are becoming more and more victims of ruthless racers. Especially the dense excursion traffic, the high speed and the engine noise are increasingly endangered danger.

Limit of 70 km/h: Nature instead of Speed Rush
Instead of relaxing nature experience, the focus for some drivers PS, adrenaline and speed. Barbara Pucker, director of the Hohe Tauern National Park in Carinthia, also sees the growing traffic with concern: “The noise is a madness for our visitors and also for us” mainly through sports cars. The 70 km/h-temime, which was introduced by Grohag, is only extremely important for animals, but also to the acoustic quality of nature. ”

Incidentally, this speed limit corresponds to that in the American national park (45 miles per hour) and is intended to make an orderly cooperation between people and nature possible.

Johannes Hörl, board member and general director of Grohag, who operates various panoramic roads in Austria, also supports the campaign: “Großglocknerstraße is a mountain road. Those who drive faster than 70, not only and others, but also a lack of respect for nature.”

According to Hörl, twelve vehicles from the circulation were drawn for frenzy in the previous year and countless criminal tickets were issued.

And even if modern engines are now cleaner, the sound remains an urgent problem, not least because the number increases with strong vehicles.

Public favorites of the Bergen
Murmount -animals are not only crowd favorites -they are considered the ambassador of the Alps and warns of delay: observe instead of overlooking, pausing instead of running through it.

Together with the National Park Administration, Grohag has also developed its own info folder “Murderers Have Priority”, which is distributed among visitors to Hoog Alpine Road-Befrite on sports car drivers.

The “Crown” “campaign that I also want to call for Marmot Rem” more than just driving slower. It is an invitation to observe the diversity and beauty of our nature more consciously – with an open mind, mindfulness and respect.

The stickers “I brake for marmots” can be ordered at tierecke@kronenzeitung.at.
