Nico Langmann was paralyzed from the waist down after a car accident. Instead of giving up, he started as a wheelchair tennis player and now supports young talents together with other celebrities.
Nico Langmann, currently Austria’s best wheelchair tennis player, presented his foundation with prominent guests in Vienna: “We want as many disabled children as possible to play sports in Austria. For example, if you can’t afford a wheelchair, monoski or handbike, we’ll pay for it.”
Auction for charity
“Krone” columnist Stefan Koubek auctioned an hour of tennis training for 1000 euros. Ö3 presenter Philipp Hansa, the ORF trio Barbara Stöckl, Lukas Schweighofer and Andreas Onea really gave everything in a tombola. The company Simacek also provided almost 13,000 euros. This is how a nice starting capital was created at the presentation of the Nico Langmann Foundation.
Part of the prize money will be donated
Langmann: “I was lucky enough to be injured in a car accident. That’s why the insurance paid for my first tennis wheelchair. But if you’re born paralyzed or fall from a tree, you get nothing. I’ve always found that brutally unfair. That is why I founded the Foundation.” The wheelchair tennis player, who co-chairs the club with his mother, donated ten percent of his previous prize money and will do so with any future prize money check. And there will probably be many more sponsors.
