On Monday evening, the Salzburg State Police Headquarters received numerous emails, some of them with confused content. The author was unknown at the time. As appointed officials were threatened with shooting, the Cobra intervened.
A police officer was explicitly threatened with a semi-automatic pistol. The city police command immediately launched an investigation. A well-known 32-year-old from Salzburg was only found a little later.
House search ordered
During a subsequent search, the suspect was arrested without resistance by agents of the Cobra task force. No firearms were found during the search. The suspect confessed and after consultation with the public prosecutor was admitted to prison.
