According to a newspaper report, Spain plans to supply Ukraine with some missiles for the Patriot air defense system. So far, the Ministry of Defense in Madrid has not commented on this information.
Although the government has ruled out a full delivery of the Patriot system, it plans to deliver some projectiles, El Pais newspaper said on Friday.
Spain is said to have three Patriot batteries purchased second-hand in Germany in 2004 and 2014.
Ukraine needs seven new Patriot air defense systems, according to its ambassador to Germany, Olexiy Makeyev. He praised the fact that Germany had made one of them available.
The government in Kiev hopes that other states will make commitments at today’s meeting in the so-called Rammstein format of Ukraine-supporting countries, Makejew said.
