An increasing trend in the virus load cannot only be observed in waste water. This is also the case in the Tyrolean schools. Within a week, the number of reported corona infections has more than doubled. The first drivers have taken action.
This school year has started without any restrictions. Representatives of parents and teachers speak of a more relaxed start to school than they have in years. Director of Education Paul Gappmaier also confirms this, but at the same time points out that many schools also test without obligation. There were about 45,500 tests in the past week. “A relatively high participation”, as Gappmaier praised.
Number of reported cases increased from 278 to 636
Last Friday, a total of 278 infected people were known in schools. Since then, the numbers have been increasing. This Thursday there were already 636 cases. Schools can still act autonomously. Masks were mandatory in one class. The tests are now mandatory in eleven classes in the country, three classes are in distance learning.
Should the curve continue to rise, union leader Peter Spanblöchl and parent representative Stefan Boscheri are advocating “uniform regulation”. That’s how it’s meant to be. The education department and health authorities are currently considering recommendations for schools.
