The initiative of the “Krone” started, on Saturday the ceremonial opening took place. A path called Sepp Forcher now leads to the top of the Untersberg. The TV legend, who died last year, was once the innkeeper on Salzburg’s home mountain. The opening ceremony, including the church service, should have taken place on the Untersberg – due to bad weather conditions, the parish church Grödig was used instead.
This did not detract from the party atmosphere. The market music band Grödig played and the bagpipers of the “Salzburg Rampant Lion Pipe Band” also showed their skills. Painter Johann Weyringer spoke the welcoming words.
The Sepp-Forcher-Steig now leads from a small plateau at the Taxhamer Kreuz, the path leads past the Zeppezauerhaus towards the Untersberg summit. And rightly so: Forcher ran the Zeppezauerhaus with his wife Heli from 1959 to 1967.
In the mid-seventies he landed on television and presented the program “Klingendes Österreich” 200 times. He wrote hundreds of columns for the “Krone”. Forcher passed away on December 19, 2021, two days after his 91st birthday.
