Three people have been killed by lightning in the Bulgarian capital Sofia. There are three Syrians, Bulgarian media reported Tuesday evening, citing the rescue service. The men had stayed under a tree in a park during the heavy thunderstorm early in the evening.
A compatriot of the three dead was taken to the capital’s emergency department in critical condition after the lightning strike. Another man was reportedly taken to a hospital after being struck by lightning in another park.
Storm caused traffic chaos
The storm caused traffic chaos in the Balkan metropolis. In addition, numerous basements, underpasses, shops and bars were flooded. Power was temporarily cut off in some parts of the city.
