An explosion took place on Tuesday evening in a public toilet in the historic Marktschlösschen in the German city of Halle (Saxony-Anhalt). Two girls and a woman were seriously injured. The cause was still unclear, a police spokesperson said on Wednesday. Current status assumes a tragic accident. There are no indications of a possible gas accident.
The explosion took place around 6 p.m. in the public toilet in the residential and commercial building where the tourist office is also located. The historic building is a late Renaissance patrician house. The seriously injured girls aged 12 and 13 and an injured 51-year-old were taken to hospital.

The forensic investigation into the cause continued on Wednesday. The police spokesman said specialists would re-examine the scene and assess the damage.
