In view of the ongoing mobilization in Russia, the US has again asked its citizens to leave the largest country in the world by area. The US embassy in Moscow warned on Wednesday that Russia could prevent people with dual US and Russian citizenships from leaving the country and enlisting them in the military.
“U.S. citizens are not allowed to travel to Russia, and those living or traveling in Russia must leave Russia immediately,” the statement said. The embassy pointed out that the options to leave the country by air are currently “extremely limited”.
Flights are fully booked or extremely expensive
A week ago, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered a partial mobilization of his army. Since then, there has been panic in many parts of Russia as men across the country are being drafted into the war against Ukraine. Tens of thousands of Russians have already fled or are planning to flee abroad – which is why many flights are fully booked or extremely expensive.
