The exploding purchase prices of gas and electricity on the world market also have far-reaching consequences for energy companies: all those companies that do not have a large part of their own production now have to buy electricity and gas at great cost – and a lot of money that their own customers then pay through their rates is recovered.
However, current end-user tariffs do not cover the companies’ high purchase prices – which is why there are likely to be additional payments: “Ultimately, the energy companies have to pass on their own purchase costs, which are currently very high, to their customers, and that affects us all – end users and entrepreneurs alike. .”
High subscription prices have not yet been taken into account in the rates
“In other words: the high purchase prices are not yet reflected in the current tariff models,” said Gerald Zmuegg of the consultancy “Finanzombudsteam” in an interview with Gerhard Koller.
Energy companies are currently paying extra
Electricity example: The rates per kilowatt hour should now be around 40 cents and more, but in many cases are considerably cheaper. That means energy companies are currently paying more for their own customers because of the high cost of self-procurement – which probably won’t last long.
