At least 20 dead in new attack on humanitarian convoy in Kupiansk

Date:

The Ukrainian government has denounced a new Russian attack on a humanitarian evacuation convoy in the city of Kupiansk in the Kharkov region (in the northeast of the country), which left at least 20 dead.

The Ukrainian governor of the region, Oleg Sinegubov, has assured that “Russian occupiers attacked civilians trying to escape the bombing.” This is a brutality that has no justification,” he denounced on his Telegram channel.

Law enforcement officials and experts have now begun investigating the exact extent of the bombing reported by Ukraine.

Kupiansk was initially liberated by Ukrainian forces early last month during their major offensive in the east of the country, although it was still the scene of fighting.

The complaint comes 24 hours after another bombing killed 30 members of a “humanitarian convoy” heading to the Zaporizhzhya region to help families and friends flee the accession. The 30 dead and 88 injured registered, according to Ukrainian authorities, were “all civilians”, members of a “humanitarian convoy” that was bombed hours before Vladimir Putin announced the annexation of this area, as well as the provinces of Kherson, Donetsk and Luhansk.
