Assassin’s Friend – Terror Trial: The Preacher’s Library

Date:

The trial against the contact person of the Viennese attacker continued on Thursday. On the second day, Islam expert Guido Steinberg had to assess whether the suspect’s books and chats were radical Islamists. The 24-year-old strongly denies this in court.

The defendant’s library, believed to have been the contact person for the later Viennese bomber, contained 200 to 250 books. In the apartment in St. Pölten, the 24-year-old is said to have not only advanced Islamist ideas, but also radicalized them. Islam expert Guido Steinberg examined the library. He is a scientist from Berlin and is used by courts in Germany, Denmark and even the US as an expert for reports.

“Jihadist Orientation” in Books
And he talks tachles. Two parts in the library still have packed books – about 20 pieces – which, according to the expert, “clearly indicate a jihadist orientation”. In other words, on terror. One of the titles: “This is the road, where are the men who walk it?” Loyalty to the prophet and renunciation of all “unbelievers” is the key. Incidentally, anyone who does not support the Afghan Taliban, for example, is an infidel. This is also reflected in a book in this library.

Scientist analyze chats
The accused said in court that the “Sunday meetings” were harmless, they had prayed. But chats analyzed by scientist Steinberg speak a different language. Since Austria is described as the “home of war”, one must go to jihad. And it’s about tolerable “spoils of war” – like Social Security benefits? In any case, the defendant claims to make a living from it. Judgment next Tuesday.
