A day before the Europa League match Sturm against Eindhoven in 2021, masked people destroyed cafe “Molly Malone” in the city of Graz. Two men are now being charged.
On September 29 of the previous year, Herwig Derler, head of the popular Graz pub “Molly Malone” on Färberplatz, looked stunned at his bar – or what was left of it: About 30 hooded storm hooligans had each other a day before Europe. -League meets match against PSV Eindhoven to go after the cheering Dutch fans.
Armchairs, tables, bottles, glasses – they threw everything they could get their hands on at people in front of the bar, even throwing the objects through the windows and doors that had already been smashed. Damage: 7700 euros!
“Schäger” not yet researched
In the next large-scale operation, the police arrested four men. Two of them (33, 25) now have to answer to court. Because they “with their preparedness and cheering encouraged the unknown perpetrators to carry out their crime”, as stated in the criminal complaint of the Graz Public Prosecutor’s Office.
This means that while they were present, they were not throwing any objects. The “criminals” have not yet been unmasked. For lawyer Raimund Hofmann – he is defending the first suspect – the criminal complaint is too meager, his client has nothing to do with the crime. A trial date has not yet been set.
