In Salzburg in Altenmarkt im Pongau, a 23-year-old man was hit by a train on Wednesday. The young man was taken to hospital by helicopter with serious injuries.
The 23-year-old Kosovar came across the railway near the Altenmarkt train station. He may have been surprised by an approaching train. The man is believed to have been hit from behind by the train. It is still unclear why the man stepped on the railway.
Findings so far point to an accident
The seriously injured person was flown by trauma helicopter to the accident hospital in Salzburg. The accident happened around 2:40 p.m. The Ennstalbahn route was closed for about an hour.
The police investigation is still ongoing. Currently, all findings point to an accident.
