The Spanish government will invest 385.6 million in Euskadi in TAV works

The General State Budget 2023 includes 558.8 million euros in real investments for Álava, Bizkaia and Gipuzkoa, 9.1% more than in 2022. Investments in railways amount to almost 510 million euros and 61 million euros will be allocated to the ports of Bilbao and Pasajes.

The deputy of the Spanish government in the Basque Country, Denis Itxaso, has broken down the posts allocated in the general state budgets for 2023 for Álava, Bizkaia and Gipuzkoa. The budget project provides for a real investment of 558.8 million euros for Euskadi, 9.1% more than in 2022. The indirect investment on its part amounts to 153.7 million.

The breakdown by province of the 558.8 million euros earmarked for investment is as follows: Álava, 115.71 million; Biscay, 199.55; and Gipuzkoa, 243.53.

Most investments go to transport infrastructure. Investments in the railways amount to almost 510 million euros, 17.9% more than in 2022, of which 385.6 million euros for the High-Speed ​​Route and 61 million euros for the ports of Bilbao and Passages.

The high-speed route is the one that takes the bulk of the investment, totaling 385.6 million. ADIF-Alta Velocidad contributes 250 million euros and another 135.6 finances the Basque government through Quota.

In the budget of Adif for Bizkaia of 35.2 million euros, the 23.2 million euros for actions in the suburb of Bilbao and the 10.8 million euros for the rail integration of Zorrotza stand out. Also, there is an item to conduct an informative inquiry into the level crossing control in Zalla.

As for Álava, of the 21 million planned, 18.2 are for the Júndiz terminal.

A further 34.9 million will go to investment in the conventional network in Gipuzkoa, focusing on the 31.7 million euros for San Sebastian commuter rail and urban mobility actions.

the budget of RENFE is considering a total endowment of 32 million euros for investments in the Basque Country in, among others, the stations of Llodio, Barakaldo, San Mamés, Autonomy and Peñota.

The planned investment in the airport sector in the Basque Country amounts to 18.46 million: 14.53 million at Bilbao airport, 2.77 million at Vitoria-Gasteiz airport and 0.46 million at San Sebastian airport.

For actions in port infrastructure, Puertos del Estado foresees investments in Euskadi of 61.5 million euros, focusing on:

– Port of Bilbao: 43.52 million for actions related to environmental sustainability and energy; development of the central dock in the dock and extension of the AZ1 wharf.

– Puerto de Pasajes: 17.8 million euros for the construction of a new fish auction, Puerto Ciudad actions and an increase in the capacity of the dock.

Zubieta Prison

The Spanish government foresees an investment of 19.8 million for the works in the North III prison center of Gipuzkoa, in Zubieta. According to predictions of the deputy of the Spanish government in Euskadi, Denis Itxaso, he has reported that the civil works will be completed by mid-2023.
