The cold case management of the Federal Criminal Police Office (BK) and the Czech police are looking for a missing Lower Austrian. The man disappeared in 2009 in the border area between Kleinhaugsdorf in the market town of Haugsdorf (Hollabrunn district) and the Czech Republic. On Friday, the authorities again appealed to the population for information. An amount of 5000 euros was allocated for this.
The missing person is Franz Leiss, born on April 23, 1941. The man has been missing from his home in Kleinhaugsdorf since the early evening hours of March 20, 2009. “Due to the close proximity to the Czech border, it cannot be ruled out that the man could also be in the Czech Republic after his disappearance or stayed there for some time,” according to the BK.
The Lower Austrian driver probably drives or drove his car, a VW Golf III convertible, with the blue test drive license plate HL-61JI. He ran a car dealership in Kleinhaugsdorf and often stayed in the Znojmo area of the Czech Republic. He had also suggested buying or renting a bathhouse in the Frain ad Thaya recreational area in the neighboring country. He was often there too.
Information can be sent to the Federal Criminal Police Office (tel: 01/24836-985025) or via email or to a police station in Austria or the Czech Republic.
At the time of his disappearance, Franz Leiss was 68 years old, 1.85 meters tall, weighed 90 kilograms and had graying hair. The investigations of the cold case management of the BK “go in all directions, both a crime and an accident are considered possible”.
