Shortly before closing time, a robber wearing an FFP2 mask and a revolver attacked a supermarket on Sterneckstraße in Salzburg. After a tirade from an employee, he ran away – slamming into the glass door.
The Eurospar in Salzburg’s Sterneckstrasse, Thursday evening at 7:21 pm: Shortly before closing time, a man dressed entirely in black – black hoodie, black pants, black leather jacket – enters the supermarket building. He looks around the corridors, ten minutes pass. The announcement of the company’s closure is heard. The man in an FFP2 mask goes to the cash register with a pack of razors and a can of chewing gum.
Suddenly, in front of the cash register, he pulls a revolver from his right coat pocket and demands, “Bring me money.” The employee rejects the request. A second employee yells at the robber – a diatribe that probably surprises even the perpetrator. He flees without prey. Probably too fast for the slowly opening glass door: the robber slammed into it, leaving broken glass and fleeing.
Robbers have left traces
An initial search by the police on Thursday evening was unsuccessful, now images from the surveillance camera are being sought for the robber. “The employees have shown civil courage,” said spokeswoman Karin Temel with a big but: “The police advise to be extremely careful in such incidents. Such perpetrators can be unpredictable.” At the scene of the crime, detectives have secured traces: fingerprints and DNA traces, the “Krone” was able to find out.
According to the description of the perpetrator, the suspect has striking sports shoes, light blue eyes, blond eyelashes and lighter skin. There are also striking parallels with the gas station robbers who are still on the loose: “We are not ruling out anything,” says Temel.
It is in any case the third robbery in just ten days. Here too, the police requests information from the population: 059/1150 3333.
