The Russian army bombarded the dawn of this Sunday with: ten missiles the Ukrainian city of Zaporizhia, in whose municipal area is the main nuclear power plant in Ukraine. The head of Zaporizhia’s regional military administration, Oleksandr Starukh, has reported the attack via social networks, noting that “the enemy continues to terrorize the city of Zaporizhia. Nearly a dozen missiles have hit”.
At least 17 people are said to have diedas reported by Anatoly Kurtev, the mayor of the city via Telegram, reports the Ukrinform news agency.
In addition, the emergency services of Zaporizhzhya have warned the inhabitants of the city of the possibility of further Russian bombingsso the population was urged not to go near the place where the missiles fell this morning.
EU conviction
For its part, the European Union (EU) adopted this Saturday the decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin on the “illegal seizure” of the Ukrainian nuclear power plant in Zaporizhzhya, the largest in Europe, and the creation of a government company in this regard. “The EU does not recognize and strongly condemns the illegal annexation by Russia of the Ukrainian regions of Donetsk, Lugansk, Zaporizhzhya and Kherson. Consequently, the decree on the seizure of the Zaporizhzhya power plant is illegal and legally null and void,” EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell said in a statement.
On the other hand, Russia has accused Ukraine of the attacks on the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant that led to the disconnection of the last power line supplying the plant’s energy needs, while at the same time assuring it is working to restore supplies.
