Three Americans had to experience an unimaginable tragedy on the high seas off the coast of the American state of Louisiana: their boat had sunk and the castaway had to endure more than a day at sea. For their dramatic rescue, they had to defend themselves against shark attacks.
The boat sank Saturday morning after engine problems surfaced. Thanks to their life jackets, the castaways were able to stay afloat until they were found by the emergency services. Their task was no easy feat: they had to search an area of more than 3,200 square kilometers for the missing persons until they discovered the three men.
Two of the men were injured fighting the sharks and were dragged onto a boat. The third survivor was taken to safety by helicopter. One of the men suffered from hypothermia. The minor injuries of the men have been treated and the rescued are now doing well.
