A 28-year-old seasonal worker from Romania has been killed in a work accident. The man fell into a pond on Wednesday afternoon in St. Anna am Aigen (Southeast Styria district) while gardening and drowned.
“The owner of the company discovered the employee around 6 p.m.,” Styria’s state police headquarters announced on Thursday. The 28-year-old mowed grass with a brushcutter at a farm’s irrigation pond.
The victim was retrieved from the water, but a resuscitation attempt was unsuccessful. The emergency doctor could only determine the employee’s death. Debts to third parties were excluded. The Labor Inspectorate has been warned.
