Environmentalists painted a showroom of luxury sports car manufacturer Aston Martin orange in central London on Sunday. The members of the Just Stop Oil group also blocked the street where the exhibition space is located with a sit-in.
On Friday, two Just Stop Oil activists spilled tomato soup over one of Vincent van Gogh’s “Sunflowers” paintings at the National Gallery in London. At the National Gallery, they spilled the contents of two cans over the artwork, which is estimated to be worth around 84 million euros. “Is art worth more than life? More than food? More than justice,” tweeted Just Stop Oil. Security forces led the women away.
As the museum announced, the two young women’s action caused “minor damage to the frame”, but the world-famous painting remained “undamaged”.
The protest group Just Stop Oil is demanding that the British government immediately halt all new oil and gas projects.
