labor unions ELA, UGT and LAB They have declared a three-day strike, from October 24 to 26, in the retirement home sector in Navarre toagainst the blockade in the negotiations on the first sectoral agreement.

At a press conference, Susana Laya, from the ELA Union, who was joined by Aroa Celorrio, from the UGT, and Ana Rey, from LAB, stated that the workers in the sector “continue to work hard, as always or even more, at a faster pace, with more and more ailments due to our work, and with very long annual hours”. “But every day that goes by makes it harder for us to reach the end of the month,” he assured.

Laya has pointed out that pandemics and incarcerations “have made clear the central role of care, that our work is fundamental and essential in today’s society” and for this reason “we must demand that the importance of the work we perform be recognized “.

For this reason, they are calling for a Navarrese sectoral agreement that replaces the state agreement and the corporate agreements and agreements now in place and that “allows us to make ends meet by increasing wages, which improves our material living conditions and thereby, the quality of our lives.

Laya has stressed that, despite Parliament’s express mandate to bring this agreement to light, the Government of Navarre “does nothing for us and evades the mediation required by the continued refusal of the two employers of our sector (Anea and Lares), who deny us legally recognized rights”.

Faced with this situation, he said, ELA, UGT and LAB, with the 83.6% representation at the negotiating table“We are convinced that a worthy agreement for all the workers of Navarra is possible here and now”.
