As described by Sidenor to EITB Media, there has been an accidental fire in a tile floor of the factory, but the event has raised concern among residents of the area.

This afternoon in Basauri (Bizkaia) a loud noise was produced in the Sidenor landfill.
The company has informed EITB Media that this is a “normal” reaction to a discharge at the landfill. As detailed later, there has been an accidental fire in a factory roof tile and the operators are trying to put it out themselves.
However, the event has caused a stir and concern among residents of the area, which has also been shared by social networks.
Neighbors claim to have heard several explosions after which there was a fire and a huge column of smoke is visible from all over the city.
Apparently a problem in an aerator caused these explosions.
