Dramatic accident on Sunday evening on the Rheintalautobahn in Vorarlberg: a 41-year-old crashed his car into the concrete barrier of the north portal of the Amberg tunnel, after which the vehicle lifted off, was thrown over another car and, after several collisions, also with the tunnel wall , came to a stop sideways. There was no rescue for the driver.
Shortly before 8 p.m., the 41-year-old from the Dornbirn district drove his car in the fast lane towards Tyrol in Rankweil. The car continued to move to the left – why is unclear. A serious accident occurred at the northern portal of the Ambergtunnel, the man’s car slammed into the concrete barrier with full force.

The impact was so severe that the vehicle was catapulted through the air and thrown over the car of a 41-year-old woman from the Bludenz district and into the right-hand tunnel wall. According to police, the vehicle bounced from there, was thrown onto the roadway and collided sideways with the Bludenzer woman’s vehicle. The man’s car was declared a total loss and the woman’s car suffered significant material damage. Due to the serious accident, the A14 towards Tyrol had to be closed to all car traffic on Sunday evening from 7:50 p.m. to 11:20 p.m. due to the actions of the police and volunteer fire brigade. Traffic was diverted through the urban area of Feldkirch.
