The cat’s owner expressed his anger after a “cold” driver deliberately ran over his beloved pet. The cat died three days later.
Eighteen-year-old Mr. Bumbles, who was deaf, rushed to the camera during a terrible accident. Owner Paul Walker, 58, says the driver “intentionally” hit Mr before fleeing.
Then the cat was lying deadlocked in agony. CCTV footage shows the black car slowing down as the cat crosses the road before suddenly accelerating toward it.
The footage shows the driver standing in front of angry neighbors as he jumps onto the sidewalk to avoid Mr. Bumbles’ injured body. He then left the estate at Great Plumsted, near Norwich, Norfolk.
Paul, who has spent $1,600 on veterinary expenses to try to save Mr. Bumbles, said he wants police to go after the driver. The head of the taxi company said: My heart was cold.
“Obviously he didn’t like the cat. I can forgive anyone who accidentally ran over the cat, but I think he got impatient and saw the cat wouldn’t move and ran towards him.
“Neither the heart nor the soul appears. He saw a cat running in the street, she was in a terrible state.”
A video filmed around 6:30 p.m. on March 25 shows locals approaching a man who allegedly works for a local food delivery service. The man, who appears to have been at the wrong address, knocks on the door with a delivery envelope in hand.
A woman says, “This cat is going to die now. Seriously?”
The man answers: What? I have stopped. I’m so sorry, but I don’t look down on cars. [sic]. “
Mr. Bumbles, whom Paul called “the real man,” is unfortunate that he was injured three days later. Among them were a broken pelvis, an eye and a broken spine.
Cat Paul and his wife Suzette, 56, were adopted two years ago after giving birth to a dead neighbor.
Paul said, “He was a beautiful cat. We’re just devastated that he’s not here.”
Mr. Bumbles, in addition to a heart murmur, was in good health. At first he was called Sock because of his white legs, then the men on the property called him Mr. Bumbles because he was spinning.
“In the morning he would greet you at the bottom of the stairs and sit on your lap. He was really special: a gentleman.
“I think the boy should pay the vet bills and do it for reckless management. He has to answer for this.”
Norfolk Police said they are investigating the incident. A spokesman for the force said: “We are investigating the incident.
Investigations are underway. So far no arrests have been made.”
RSPCA is indicated for comment.
