There was no rescue for a Syrian asylum weaver who swam with two friends in the Attersee in Upper Austria on Tuesday afternoon. The drowned 26-year-old was found ten meters offshore at a depth of five meters.
In the afternoon a large-scale operation by the police, Red Cross, fire brigade and water rescue services took place on Lake Attersee. A young man went down while swimming near a bathing area of a hotel in Attersee. While the alerted diving troops of the fire brigade and water rescue prepared the search, the ÖWR lifeboats Nußdorf, Unterach and Weyregg searched the area.
Ten meters from the coast
From a boat, the motionless body of the missing person was found ten meters from the shore at a depth of about five meters at the bottom of the lake. Also on board was Country Manager Dr. Gerald Berger, who brought the 26-year-old man to the surface. Unfortunately, despite the speedy recovery, all help came too late.
