Vienna opens the stock exchange in the fight against energy prices. The criteria for the energy bonus are quite broad. Asylum seekers can be happy, convicts get nothing.
Vienna’s energy bonus of 200 euros was approved in the state parliament on Wednesday. About 650,000 households or a total of 1.3 million Viennese should benefit from this. They must be supported in the fight against high energy prices. All households with a gross annual income of up to 40,000 euros (individual households) or 100,000 euros (multi-person households) are included.

Prisoners are expressly excluded. However, asylum seekers in basic care are not – that was heavily criticized by FPÖ leader Dominik Nepp: “It is unfair that the 200 euro Viennese energy bonus is also paid to asylum seekers who still receive all-inclusive meals and have no energy costs to pay.”
Only one payment per household
Incidentally, the energy bonus is only paid once per household and the applicant must have his main residence in the city of Vienna and have reached the age of 18 by 10 November 2022. If you want to take advantage of the 200 euros, you must submit an application online in December 2022. The various offices in the city have to help and the money is deposited directly into the account. Exact formalities are still being worked out. Deaths are permanently excluded via online registration – unlike the federal government’s climate bonus.
