A 33-year-old drunk driver escaped Friday in Lamprechtshausen in the Flachgau after an accident with a truck. The man without a valid driver’s license had previously stolen the vehicle on a company property.
After the traffic accident with material damage, the man parked the truck in a parking lot and fled into the forest, police said. After a short search, the driver was stopped by the police in the forest and arrested.
While driving through the area, the drunk driver drove the stolen car on a sidewalk and bicycle path, among other things, endangering two pedestrians who could only avoid a collision by running away.
The man refused the alcohol test and also tried to injure the officers deployed to the police station. He is on trial for numerous offenses before the Salzburg District Authority and the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
