The paragliding flight for a local (26) in Gaimberg, East Tyrol, ended in hospital. The glider collapsed just before landing. The pilot sustained serious injuries in the ensuing crash.
The accident happened on Sunday afternoon. The 26-year-old started his paragliding flight in Ebnerfeld in the Faschingalm area at an altitude of about 1500 meters. “When approaching the landing field in Gaimberg, the parachute collapsed at a height of four meters,” police said.
Fell on a field
As a result, the pilot crashed into a field. He sustained serious injuries to his right forearm. Other paragliders provided first aid. The rescue took the 26-year-old to Lienz hospital.
