Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has called on the international community to oppose any further escalation of the war by Russia. He was responding to rumors spread by the Kremlin that Ukraine might detonate a radioactive bomb. If Moscow accuses its country of wanting to throw such a “dirty bomb”, it is preparing something dirty itself, Zelenskyy said in a video speech on Sunday evening (see above).
He spoke of a “telephone carousel” between Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and the ministers of NATO countries France, Britain, Turkey and the US. In it, Shoigu warned on Sunday of Ukraine’s alleged plans to use a nuclear-contaminated bomb.
The world should not swallow “dirt”.
“If anyone in our part of Europe can use nuclear weapons, there is only one – and this one has ordered Comrade Shoigu to go there,” Zelenskyy said, referring to Russian President Vladimir Putin. The world needs to make it clear that it is not ready to swallow this “dirt”.
“Wherever Russia goes, it leaves behind mass graves, torture camps, destroyed cities and towns, cleared land, destroyed infrastructure and natural disasters,” the president said. Ukraine, on the other hand, is trying to return its people to a normal life. “Where Ukraine is, no life is destroyed.”
