In a scenario marked by uncertainty, Lehendakari Urkullu has announced that the Basque government budget project for 2023 will exceed EUR 14 billion for the first time. “It represents a new step in consolidating the economic and social foundations that will enable us to face up to a difficult year“, has explained.
Iñigo Urkullu has confirmed that “the process of slowing down is being observed, in the Basque Country and also in Europe”, before stressing that “The worst is yet to come”.
Lehendakari Urkullu participates this morning in the “New Economy Forum”, organized by Forum Europe in Bilbao.
In his speech, he also announced that the Hitzartuz program, which will be presented to the Board of Directors tomorrow, will have an economic impact of EUR 335 million. He also detailed some of the measures collected in that plan:
– 2% deflation
– Extend the deduction of 200 euros for families with an income below 30,000 euros until 2023
– Increase social emergency aid by 10% to mitigate the effects of inflation
– Reduce energy costs for social housing communities; and expand support to improve energy savings and efficiency for families
– Raise the income threshold for access to social housing
– New dedicated line of credit for energy-intensive companies
– Strengthening programs to encourage the generation of renewable energy sources.
