When an American woman wanted to divorce her abusive husband, he panicked. Chae Kyong An, 53, of Washington state, kidnapped his wife, who was 11 years her junior, from her home, tied her up and stabbed her several times in the chest before burying her alive in a wooded area. Miraculously, the little victim was able to free herself from her grave and get help.
The couple’s marriage may not have been happy for a long time – Young wanted to divorce her brutal husband due to domestic violence. On Sunday, after church, she wanted to meet Chae to discuss the divorce. Her children were not in the house – she had sent them away to talk to him alone.
But before he has to transfer assets to 42-year-old Young Sook An due to the impending divorce, the violent criminal simply decided to end the life of the mother of two, he also told her during the conversation. He wanted his wife to disappear into a hole 1.65 meters long, 76 centimeters wide and 48 centimeters deep.
Previously, he had taped the slender woman – he tied her hands behind her back. During this fight, she was able to make an emergency call with her smartwatch, but because she was gagged, she couldn’t tell anyone what had happened. When officers arrived at their home, Chae had already loaded his wife into his car and drove her into the woods.
Woman was buried fully conscious
There the ordeal continued: He stabbed her in the chest several times with a small knife before putting Young in the well he had dug. The man then put a large trunk on her and filled her grave with earth – the 42-year-old was fully conscious and heard everything. When he was gone, she squirmed until her tires partially loosened. Finally, she ran to her neighbors, who alerted the police.
In the well, officers found the victim’s hair and pieces of duct tape. Chae was arrested – with no possibility of bail pending trial. This is completely in the spirit of the victim: “I really fear for my life. I just want to emphasize that I am so afraid of him and that he will kill me again when he is free,” the victim’s lawyer quoted Young in a statement.
