Halloween is just around the corner and a lot of candy is out of stock in supermarkets. A price war is raging, especially between Rewe and Haribo. Children should not be bothered by it.
The high season for sweets with Halloween, Sinterklaas and Advent is rapidly approaching. But in some stores of the Rewe Group, the Haribo products were in short supply or out of stock due to a price war of recent days – the horror for fans of the scary festival and parents.
Supply assured?
At Rewe they try to calm down. According to spokesperson Paul Pöttschacher, the warehouses are full: gold bears and the like are available for trick or treating as usual in all Billa branches – but only while supplies last. You are also prepared at Spar. According to spokeswoman Nicole Berkmann, the Spar stores are prepared for the Halloween rush and all Haribo products are available in sufficient quantities. There are also other candy brands from local suppliers that you trust.
The energy crisis hits industry hard
Or you switch to smaller providers. For example to “Bear Country” in the center of Gabriele Auer. The candy expert knows no bottlenecks. “We have our own producer with whom we work closely. We have also been able to recruit many new customers in recent weeks. Everyone who has tried our products remains loyal to us,” says Auer with a smile.
But the entrepreneur knows that the energy crisis is hitting the industry hard. Auer: “We had to raise prices by 50 percent and there were crop failures. This makes the fruit concentrates more expensive. However, we will not change the packaging formats.”
