Almost all parents are aware that a slight fall can occur when romping on the playground. However, it is rare for the humerus to suddenly break. That’s exactly what happened to a four-year-old. The boy was put in a cast for several weeks, but the pain did not subside.
More than a broken bone
Finally, the experts from Krems University Hospital were consulted. The diagnosis: The broken bone was caused by a defect in bone growth, which in turn was the result of a tumor. The four-year-old was operated on immediately and a donor bone from the bone bank in Krems was successfully harvested by Dr. Dietmar Dammerer are being transplanted.
Six weeks after surgery, the brave young patient is happy with a stable upper arm. Nothing stands in the way of a trip to the playground.
