Supermarket burned down – police are still investigating suspect

Date:

After the arson in Vienna-Floridsdorf, in which a car crashed into a supermarket on Saturday evening and both the car and the market went up in flames, the police were investigating a second suspect. It is also a 21 year old. It remains silent, as does his friend who has already been arrested. The relationship between the two is still under investigation.

The fact is that, according to the police, no arrest warrant was issued on Tuesday against the friend of the same age as the first suspect. But it is believed that the 21-year-old was also directly involved in the crime and is therefore considered an urgent suspect. The extent to which other men who witnesses said were at or near the crime scene were actually involved is still under investigation.

Car set on fire on purpose
In any case, the suspicion of arson remains in the room. According to the findings of the detectives of the Rijksrecherche, the car in the supermarket was set on fire. The liquid that would have been poured over the car was probably gasoline.

The first suspect is also silent
The first suspect, who was arrested in Deutsch-Wagram (Lower Austria), has also so far refused to testify. However, during a search of the house ordered by the Vienna public prosecutor’s office, narcotics – suspected cocaine and cannabis – and two prohibited weapons – brass knuckles and a telescopic baton – were seized. It was not yet clear on Tuesday afternoon whether the public prosecutor would request custody of the arrested 21-year-old. “The news service will decide that,” said authority spokeswoman Nina Bussek. He was taken to a detention center on Tuesday.
